Dear Keystone and Kilittaşı Community,
This week, we've worked tirelessly to prepare for the celebration of the Centennial Anniversary of the Turkish Republic. Our teachers and students were in perfect harmony, and everyone was delighted to contribute to this special day. All Kilittaşı students will participate in the ceremony on Sunday 29th, October. The ceremony will start at 11.00, but all the students should be at school at 10.30. Hopefully, many more centuries of celebration await this country. Our parents can park their cars in the Bilfen School parking area. The dress code for performing students is as follows:
KG classes - Any white and red combination
Choir students - Red Ataturk T-shirt, blue jeans
Marching band - White Ataturk T-shirt, black jeans
Waltz students - Girls - red or white long dress (below the knee), Boys - black or dark blue suit.
THIS WEEK
Our high school students enjoyed two fantastic trips. Our Science students witnessed the work in Sabancı University's NanoTechnology laboratory, while the Social Studies students embarked on an art-filled journey in İstanbul Modern.
Our youngest KG scientist participated in a science workshop and enjoyed the experiments.
UPCOMING WEEK
Exam Week
Next week, we are entering another busy week. Our students must review their subjects thoroughly and review any areas they feel they lack with their teachers to prepare for the exam week. Due to Prince Edward Island and Turkish Ministry of Education Regulations, students who miss the exam must provide a doctor's report to take the makeup exam.
Halloween
Can you relax while experiencing the stress of exam week on one hand? Yes, with Halloween. On Tuesday, October 31, the Halloween spirit will come alive at our school. We can't wait to see our students in their crazy costumes and makeup. If you would like your makeup created at school by one of our Round Square members, please have your child bring 20-50TL with them so they can choose a design. All money raised will be donated to Breast Cancer Research.
Parent-Teacher Meetings
We will be holding kindergarten parent-teacher meetings on Saturday, November 4th. Kindergarten homeroom teachers will contact the parents to schedule appointments. Parent-teacher meetings for primary, middle, and high school will be held on Saturday, November 25th. We will share student progress reports before the meetings so parents and teachers can discuss student progress and expectations.
Ankara Field Trip
We want to invite our Keystone students to join the trip to Ankara on November 4th. The trip was initially organized for our Kilittaşı students. Still, after the interest shown by our Keystone parents, we think this could be an excellent opportunity for our Keystone students to learn more about the history of Modern Turkey. Primary school students can attend the field trip with their parents, but middle schoolers can come alone. Ms. Kader, Mr. Kağan, Ms. Blerina, and Ms.Berna will be with the students. We will increase the number of teachers according to the number of students.
I've included the details in the letter I've attached. If you want to attend the excursion, please email sarah.edwards@keystoneschools.com.tr till Monday 30th.
Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT)
A few of our Grade 11 and Grade 12 students will take the OSSLT practice examination on November 1st and 2nd from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Students registered to take the exam must come to school on time.
Annual Canada Trip
We want to announce our upcoming trip to Canada for our high school students (Grade 9 to Grade 12)! The trip will take place from April 6 to April 20. Parents interested in having students take part in this trip should email camlica@keystoneschools.com.tr. We will hold an informational meeting for all interested parents and guardians. Students who exhibit disruptive behavior or low academic progress will not be allowed to take part in this opportunity.
Annual France Trip
We are arranging a trip to France in April for our middle school students. Parents interested in having students take part in this trip should email camlica@keystoneschools.com.tr. We will be holding a presentation for students, parents, and guardians in the coming month when all the details are finalized.
KOÇ Museum Trip
1st graders will visit the Koç Museum to observe the changes from the past and to the present on November 2nd. They will have unforgettable moments there with their teachers.
Breast Cancer Awareness
Our Round Square team will organize activities on Thursday, November 9th, to raise awareness about breast cancer. All students should wear pink on the specified date to support the cause, and they can bring 50 TL to school for the bake sale.
Just a quick reminder that the flu season has begun, and we are seeing more cases of children getting ill. As a precaution, we kindly request you to keep your children at home when they have a fever, heavy coughing, or green runny noses. If your child has any infectious disease, please inform their teachers. Your cooperation is highly appreciated.
Have a great weekend,
KIS&KIT TEAM
