At Keystone International Schools the major aim of Guidance Counseling Department is to encourage students’ academic, social and emotional development. Our counselors help students to understand themselves and their needs, to solve their problems, to improve their abilities and skills and create an environment where they can express themselves confidently. The programs that the Guidance and Counseling Services run are as follow:

  • Orientation Program
  • How to Cope with Bullying
  • How to Cope with Peer Pressure
  • Social Skills Program
  • Strategies for Effective Learning
  • Friendship Building Skills
  • Conflict Resolution Skills
  • Creativity
  • Dealing With Big Emotions like Anger and Frustration
  • Respect and Empathy for Others

The above topics are presented systematically through group activities from 1st through 4th grade. Classroom teachers implement these lessons with the cooperation of our counselors every week.

Working With Children

The major role of our guidance counselors is the assessment and development of our students. For this reason, they observe the students in the school setting, make individual and group counseling interventions when needed, prepare and conduct developmental and preventive counseling services focusing development of our students.

Working With Parents

Our elementary guidance counselors also inform the parents about the development of their children, conduct guidance sessions for parents to improve their parenting skills and enhance their relationships with their children. Because it is the goal of our counselors to create a healthy environment in and out of school. Parents also can contact our guidance counselors about academic, social and emotional concerns and family transitions such as death, moving or divorce.

Working With Administrators And Teachers

Our counselors work together with administrators and teachers and regular meetings are held with the principals to assist with identifying and resolving student needs and problems. We believe that children have a natural instinct for empathy and a desire to help others, so our counselors provide opportunities for our students to express this drive and realize they have the ability to imagine and achieve goals. We believe a mindset of generosity and gratitude comes naturally to young people, and our mission is to help nurture these seeds for a balanced, joyful and productive life.

This helps make the school environment more joyful, but moreover it contributes to the success of each child.
