Working With Children
The major role of our guidance counselors is the assessment and development of our students. For this reason, they observe students in the school setting, hold individual and group counseling interventions when needed, and prepare and conduct developmental and preventive counseling services focusing on the development of our students.
Working with Parents and The Others In Relations (Educators, Psychologists, Psychiatrists etc.)
It is essential for our guidance counselors to communicate and cooperate with the students’ parents and others, because guidance counselors form a clear opinion about a student’s needs when all the information is gathered about a student from several relevant sources. Either the guidance counselors can ask for a meeting, or parents may ask for an appointment from the guidance counselors to discuss their child’s development or to ask questions about their concerns. These meetings are confidential.
Our middle school guidance counselors conduct guidance sessions for parents to improve their parenting skills and enhance their relationships with their children because it is the goal of our counselors to create a healthy environment in and out of school.
Working with Administrators and Teachers
Our counselors work together with administrators, teachers, and principals to assist with identifying and resolving student needs and problems. There are also assemblies and presentations about a variety of subjects which are held by the counselors or guest speakers.
