Admissions Policy

At Keystone schools, we believe that every child has the right to education. Every child is unique and has different strengths and areas of improvement. We design our lessons considering and respecting different learning styles. We also believe that academic, social, and emotional development are strongly connected to each other. The main goal of the school is to develop a joy of learning, and to make students feel confident about their potential.

We have another High School in Toronto under the same name. They follow the same educational curriculum for K12 students as Istanbul KIS. Our students will be registered and have a student number in both countries (Canada and Turkey). Students will complete 12 credits from Toronto KIS during their high school education in Istanbul KIS. Therefore students will earn 2 Diplomas, from both Canada and Turkey (Keystone International High Schools Diplomas).

You may register our school in line with the quota established by the Turkish Ministry of Education. The perspective parent who is interested in our school, first make an appointment with the school secretary and schedule a meeting with the school principal. The meeting will consist of a presentation of our school history and overall and a tour of the school. The perspective parents who are interested to register in our middle and high school, are encouraged to bring their children with them to the meeting as they should also be involved in the process. For families that are currently residing outside of Turkey, we can organize all of the meetings and assessments online and once all the procedures for pre-registration is completed, the school secretary will contact you to inform you of student acceptance via email. After receiving the acceptance email from the secretary then you may set up an appointment with the admissions coordinator and complete the actual admissions procedures. Please go to apply online for more details.

Kindergarten

Our 5-year-old kindergarten students are trained as preparatory class students of our school. The parents who want to continue the process, are invited back to the school with the student at a later date. If the school is in session, the student spends at least one lesson hours in the classroom with students of his age group, accompanied by a guiding teacher. The counselor and the class teacher give feedback to the parent and the school principal about the student and whether the student can be happy in our school. This is the basis of our admissions to Keystone Kindergarten.

Primary School

Following the meeting with the principal, parents wishing to continue the process are invited back to the school along with the student at a later date. The prospective student first has an individual interview with the guidance counselor, and then spends at least two hours in the lessons with his or her age group when school is in session, along with the guidance counselor. The counselor and classroom teachers give feedback to the principal on the language proficiency of the student and whether they can be happy in our school. Prospective students for grade 4 will take a small written assessment for English and Math, just to get a baseline for the student. This is the basis of our admissions to Keystone Primary.
